Cow/Calf Pairs $3,416 Beautiful spring weather in Mt. Sterling, Ky., made for a great weekend to host the 15th Annual Bluegrass Gelbvieh Invitational. An outstanding set of top quality females were presented by nine consignors from across the southeast. Topping the sale was Lot 15/15A, Ms. Highlight 190Y ET and her heifer calf, consigned by Larry P & Sunny D Farms. This two year old, homozygous polled, full sister to GBNR Captain 42X was a crowd favorite. Circle B Gelbvieh outlasted several bidders to own this powerful pair at $6,100. Next high selling female was the three-in-one package consigned by Gentle G Farm. Ruby Red and her CTR Highlight daughter, Gentle G 44Z, were easy to find. Lot 27 and 27A was a high performance pair that sold split in the ring and was kept together by Green Hills Gelbvieh for $4,000. Coming in at $3,900 was Lot 20/20A, Gabby 4U2 ET and her Edison daughter. Mark Webster and Zach Thompson landed on this young pair that sold first through the ring. Gelbvieh Bar None Ranch consigned Lot 26/26A, Freedom's Image ET and her Maverick bull calf. This proven female is a full sister to Freedom's Reflection. Her bull calf by Maverick combines unusual eye appeal and performance. Silver Farms added this pair to their front pasture for $3,700. Also selling at $3,700 was Lot 17/17A consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh. Delta 928W and her bull calf was one of several lots purchased by David May. Following closely at $3,600 was Lot 18/18A, Bar None Ms. Highlight and her Chief Executive bull. This homozygous black, Highlight 066K female will make her new home at Brendy Hill Farm. Black Balancer® Bulls $4,700 A beautiful sunny day helped to highlight an incredibly strong set of Gelbvieh and Balancer® bulls offered by Schroeder Ranch, Inc. The best crowd ever was treated to bulls that were fed and managed for longevity and soundness. Topping the sale was Lot 1, SGRI Jacked-Up Z704. This tremendous herdsire was the 2013 People’s Choice Balancer Bull Futurity runner-up, sired by the infamous SITZ Upward 307R. He is a February 16, 2012 homozygous polled, black Balancer with incredible performance (860 lbs. WW; 1,627 lbs. YW) out of a Jackhammer sired dam. His 16.2 inch ribeye area was only topped by ‘off the charts’ weaning weight and yearling weight EPDs. LeDoux Ranch, Andy and Danielle LeDoux, Agenda, Kan., had the final bid at $17,000. Lot 3, another homozygous black Balancer bull, SGRI Alexandria Z707, was the next high seller at $6,000. Dean Baker, Mt. Vernon, S.D., added this February 19, 2012 SITZ Upward 307R son to his bull battery. With Final Answer and Big ‘N Rich both represented in his dam’s pedigree, he has unlimited breed changing potential. Lot 15, SGRI Bryant Z804, is a 50 percent black Balancer bull that sold for $5,750 to Kevin Larson, Hartford, S.D. Sired by LT In Reach 9024 (by Mytty In Focus) he has calving ease numbers with performance, shape, and mass, along with a 16.4 inch ribeye area. The LT In Reach calves were highly sought after throughout the sale. Another SITZ Upward 307R sired, homozygous black Balancer bull, Lot 2, SGRI Alcester Z703 sold to long-time satisfied customer, Sid Meyer, Meyer Ranch, Rock Rapids, Iowa for $5,500. A heifer bull, coupled with performance and calving ease EPDs, will add pounds and value to the future Meyer calf crops. A March 29, 2012, red Balancer bull sold for $5,500 to repeat customer Robert Ziebart, Plankinton, S.D. Lot 49, SGRI Kimball Z786, was sired by HFX RD Ter-Ron Fully Loaded 5 and held bragging rights to the number one adjusted 365-day weight for red Balancer bulls in the offering at 1,443 pounds. This youngster, with a 15.89 inch ribeye area, may well have been one of the very best red Balancer bulls to sell anywhere in the country. Two bulls left the sale ring for $5,000 each. Lot 6, SGRI Belle Fourche Z708, was one of three bulls Colby Smith, Boone, Iowa purchased via DVAuction. This black Balancer LT In Reach 9024 son gained 4.64 pounds per day to adjust for a 1,443 pound yearling weight. He could have easily led off the sale such was his quality. The other $5,000 bull was Lot 36, SGRI Gregory Z805, going to Steven Miles, Montrose, S.D. Here again was a red Balancer calf sired by HXC Jackhammer 8800U with weaning weight EPDs in the top one percent of the breed and yet another bull measuring over a 15 inch ribeye area. Jackhammer sired calves dominated the red Balancer offering for the entire sale. Purebred Bulls $3,702 The 13th Annual Saskatoon Gelbvieh Bull and Female Sale was again very successful. With a three-day blizzard across much of western Canada the sale was postponed until the following day, giving everyone a little extra time to dig out through the snow drifts. Cattle presented by Fir River Livestock, Stone Gate Farm and the Davidsons were considered to be some of the best. Due to the blizzard the Davidson cattle did not arrive but were sold by means of sale cattle pictures projected on a screen. Keriness Cattle Company, Airdrie, AB, was in attendance and selected two bulls. Their first choice was FIR River Ronny 652Z at $7,000. 652Z is sired by MGF Rig Rocker and out of a DCC Rikhards Red sired dam. Keriness Cattle also selected FIR River Holman 627Z for $4,500, a son of LTC Ridge Star Holman and out of a Red Rock sired dam. Twisted T Gelbvieh, Asquith, SK, selected FIR River Hugh 660Z at $4,400. 660Z is a son of EGL Pabst and out of a Rally Lou sired dam. Stone Gate Farm consigned another excellent offering to the 2013 sale. Bluff Island Stock Farm, Inwood, MB, selected STON Zoro 10Z at $5,750. He is a son of SLC Master Plan and out of the STON Miss Julie cow family. Lorne and Sandi Zentner, Consul, SK, chose STON Zeus 25Z, a son of V V Xtra Time, for $4,500. V & V Farms, Redcliff, AB, chose STON Zander 8Z at $4,500. 8Z is a son of CES Decka Outback and out of a Fir River sires dam. Mt. Sterling, Ky. 40 Bulls $3,098 A great crowd was on hand for the first Bluegrass Gelbvieh/Balancer® Invitational Bull Sale in Mt. Sterling, Ky., on March 23, 2013. The sale offered 40 outstanding Gelbvieh and Balancer bulls from 11 consignors. Good demand for the Gelbvieh and Balancer genetics was evident in the $3,098 average. Topping the sale at $9,500 was Lot 34, Bar None Mr. Maverick 230Z, consigned by Bar None Ranch. This homozygous polled, double black, late January Maverick son was a crowd favorite weighing in at 1,540 pounds just before the sale. He has outstanding individual performance supported by an impressive EPD profile for growth and maternal strength. His donor dam, Pearl L023, has produced several outstanding individuals through the years. Larry P & Sunny D Farms was the successful bidder on this sale feature. Next high selling bull at $6,500 was Lot 37, Bar None Mr. Black Impact 208Z. This homozygous polled, double black, Black Impact son was nursed by an incredible two-year-old P016 daughter. His impressive performance and eye appeal caught the attention of several including the new owner, Pleasant Meadows Farms. Two bulls came in at $5,000. Lot 27, Mr. S & S Trendsetter 34Y, is a homozygous polled, homozygous black, Trendsetter son out of the dam of Mason 14W. Cunningham Farms outlasted several bidders to own this stylish herd sire. Lot 35, Bar None Mr. Mason 234Z ET, found a new home with Mockingbird Hill Farm. This stout Mason 14W son out of the great P016 donor was an easy find. Following close behind was his Maverick 70T brother out of P016 that sold for $4,750 to Hampton Family Farms. This late January Maverick son crushed the sales at 1,545 pounds two days before the sale. Maverick sons were certainly in demand averaging $4,730 on the day. 13 Bulls $3,450 Sunshine and warm weather made for a great weekend to attend the 2013 Tennessee Agribition Gelbvieh show and sale held March 8-9 in Lebanon, Tenn. A great crowd was on hand to watch the Friday show and Saturday sale. Kicking off the sale was the grand champion bull consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh, Mt. Ulla, N.C. Golden Spike 326Y is a 75 percent, homozygous black, homozygous polled Northern Pacific son. Russell Sorrells outlasted several bidders to own the Spike at $6,250. The reserve grand champion bull was Lot 2, Butlers Code Red 908Y, presented by Butler Creek Farms, Milton, Tenn. This 75 percent, red son of Butler's Code Red 506T had performance and eye appeal to burn. Wade Mathis was the successful bidder at $3,900. Other sale features included Lot 5, Butlers Power Code 359Y, from Butler Creek Farms selling for $3,950 to Jonnie Hall. Calvin Jones picked up Lot 4, Watchman 17Y, consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh at $4,000. Colby James consigned Lot 8, Mr Joe, who was the pick of Deloy Kirby at $4,000. Kenneth Young purchased the Butler Creek Farms' Lot 12 Butlers Royal Code 10Z at $3,900. M & W Farms' Lot 7, M&W Mr Pioneer 206Z, was the choice of Dale Askew at $3,900. Grand champion female was consigned by M & W Farms. Lot 26, WW Pure Booty 285Z, is a 50 percent Balancer open heifer sired by the M & W herd sire, VER PRTY Pioneer 0149X ET. She sold for $2,100 to Claire Garrell. The reserve grand champion female was Lot 21, M&W Miss Lady 286Z. A March 20, 2012, 50 percent open heifer sired by EGL Cahill. She was purchased by Kendall Garrell. Black Balancer® Bulls $4,697 Cattlemen and women from ten states appraised the stout, muscular, roughage raised bulls offered by the Flying H crew. Many commented the offering was one of the best they had seen and the aggressive bidding spread the bulls from Alabama to Michigan and Oklahoma. Drought conditions reduced the number of bulls needed by Flying H customers but they were willing to invest in their future with the superior genetics offered. Top selling seedstock herd bull was Lot 1 at $10,500. This homozygous polled and homozygous black 75 percent Balancer® is going to roam pastures for Bar Arrow Cattle at Phillipsburg, Kan. He combined In Focus with Atlas and combined a super disposition and phenotype with calving ease, growth, carcass and maternal genetics. Second high selling bull was a homozygous polled, homozygous black Balancer sired by Flying H Protégé 15W. Bidding $9,000 was the Ripa family, a repeat customer from Nebraska. Other herd bulls bringing $7,000 or more went to these top ranchers: Wahlmeier, Kan.; Kraunau, Neb.; Kunkel, Neb.; and Grabill, Neb.. Top selling red bulls went to repeat customers: Jones Ranch, Ala., paying $6,000 for a Flying H Protégé 22W Balancer son; Farr, Neb., with the top selling red Gelbvieh bull at $4,500; Holeman, Neb., taking home a 25% GV/75%AN at $5,250; and Klein, Neb., buying a 75%GV/25%AR to use on his Red Angus based cows. 12 Bulls $2,935 This year marked the second year of the return of the Gelbvieh and Balancer®show and sale to the Kentucky Beef Expo. The sale continues to grow as thirteen breeders from Kentucky, Illinois and North Carolina consigned an outstanding offering of Gelbvieh and Balancer bulls and females. The grand champion Balancer bull was Lot 4, GHGF Tradition 310Y, consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh, Mt. Ulla, N.C. He is a September 7, 2011, 50 percent, black, Balancer bull sired by S A V Heritage 6295. After active bidding, Jack Jacobs purchased this herd sire for $5,500. Green Hills Gelbvieh also consigned the reserve champion Balancer bull. Lot 7, GHGF Lester, is a November 6, 2011, black, polled, 68 percent Balancer son of GHGF Jilt's Tonic 81W. He was purchased by Judyside Farms for $4,750. In the Gelbvieh bull show, champion bull was Lot 1, GHGF Alexander 782Y, once again consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh. A two year old son of EGL Northern Pacific W026 ET, this 75 percent Gelbvieh bull was born in February 26, 2011 and had a yearling weight EPD of 112 and a ribeye area EPD of 0.45, putting him in the top of the breed for those traits. Bartley Farms was the winning bidder at $3,000. The reserve champion Gelbvieh bull was Lot 2, Bullett, consigned by Spring Valley Farm of Lebanon, Ky. He is an April 6, 2011 purebred bull sired by REY Little E and was purchased by Wally Gilliam for $3,500. Bear Creek Gelbvieh, Bardstown, Ky., consigned the grand champion Gelbvieh female. Lot 28, Danica 201Z, is a black, purebred Gelbvieh open heifer born February 10, 2012 out of DBJ DD Party On Fire W969 and JBPF Lady Xcellence 13X. This heifer, which was the reserve champion and champion bred and owned female at the 2012 NAILE had many friends on sale day and was ultimately picked up by Asbury Farms for $3,900. Lot 21, Bar None Angie 152Y, was the reserve champion Gelbvieh female, consigned by Gelbvieh Bar None Ranch, Fredonia, Ky. She is a powerful, eye appealing, August 22, 2011, red, purebred Gelbvieh heifer sired by JDPD Astro 407S, and sold safe for an August calf by the AI sire Lazy TV Watchman W021. Yoder's Prairie Acres was the winning bidder at $4,600. The grand champion Balancer female was Lot 30, Lucy, consigned by McIntosh Farm, Georgetown, Ky. She is an April 9, 2012, homozygous black, homozygous polled, 50 percent Balancer open heifer out of WAM Lutton 909 and JBOB 445L ET. Reynolds Bee Lick Gelbvieh, Crab Orchard, Ky., consigned the reserve champion Balancer female. Lot 23, Bee Lick K Yaffa, is a September 14, 2011, 75 percent, black heifer sired by TAU Mr Krugerrand 70M 130P and sold AI bred to M/L Advantage for an August calf. 125 Yearling Balancer® Bulls $4,104 Beautiful weather along with a stout set of Gelbvieh, Angus and Balancer® bulls and a crowd full of repeat buyers boosted the Thorstenson Gelbvieh & Angus 32nd Annual Bull Sale to an average of $3,974 on 203 bulls. This was the first year owners Vaughn Thorstenson and Brian Begeman hosted the sale, held March 2, at the new Lazy TV Ranch sale facility west of Selby, S.D. The top bull of the sale was Lot 100, Lazy TV Tank Z301. He is a March 16, 2012 homozygous black, yearling Balancer bull sired by Lazy TV Tank X315. He weaned at an impressive 722 pounds, 122 ratio. He also weighed 1,353 pounds at a year of age with a 133 yearling weight ratio, giving him 4.01 pounds per day average daily gain. Jon Beastrom of Pierre, S.D., added this herd sire to his program for $11,500. Lot 191, Lazy TV Class Z471 sold for $8,250 to Richard Jore, Watford City, N.D. This February 2, 2012 red Balancer yearling bull was sired by Lazy TV Second Class R87 and posted performance data of: weaning weight 745 pounds, 114 ratio; average daily gain 3.83 pounds per day, 116 ratio; yearling weight 1,348 pounds, 112 ratio. Another yearling red Balancer bull sold for $8,250 to Fiedler Farms, Selby, S.D. Lot 197, Lazy TV X Factor Z544 was born February 22, 2012 and sired by Lazy TV X Factor X383. His performance numbers included: weaning weight 695 pounds, 106 ratio, average daily gain 3.59 pounds per day, 100 ratio; yearling weight 1,260 pounds, 105 ratio; ribeye area 15.2 inches, 107 ratio; and %IMF 3.28, 104 ratio. Two hundred and two registered bidders from 25 states and Canada were in attendance and bulls sold into 23 states and Canada. JRI Pop A Top 307Z80 topped the sale at $11,500 to Voss Farms, Bruning, Neb. This black, homozygous polled purebred JRI Pop A Top 197T83 son was Judd Ranch’s lead pen bull in their 2013 champion pen of five bulls in Denver. He puts together impressive numbers including: 86 pound birth weight, 681 pound 205-day weight, 1,270 pound yearling weight, 39.3 cm yearling scrotal, and a 20.4 square inch yearling ribeye. JRI Multi Task 197Y22 sold as the second high selling bull at $11,000 to Shilling Bros., Westphalia, Kan. This homozygous black, homozygous polled Balancer® Final Answer x Extra Exposure son weaned off his dam at 995 pounds. He posted an 84 pound birth weight, 815 pound 205-day weight, 1,247 pound yearling weight, 38.6 cm yearling scrotal and an impressive 6.46 pounds/day average daily gain. JRI Maximizer 634Z21 sold to Leonhardt Cattle Co., Lake Preston, S.D., for $10,500. This black, homozygous polled Mytty In Focus x Extra Exposure son was Judd Ranch’s lead bull in their 2013 reserve champion pen of five Balancer bulls in Denver. His performance data includes: 79 pound birth weight, 784 pound 205-day weight, 1,386 pound yearling weight, 40.2 cm yearling scrotal, and a 14.9 square inch yearling ribeye. JRI Super Duty 9Y53 sold to Tracy Lake, Blackfoot, Idaho for $10,500. This double black, homozygous polled purebred JRI Secret Instinct 254U83 son posted an 74 pound birth weight, 762 pound 205-day weight, 950 pound weaning weight off a first calf heifer, 1,242 pound yearling weight, along with a 41.4 cm yearling scrotal. Ponteix, SK 76 Gelbvieh Bulls $3,875 One of the longest running purebred Gelbvieh bull sales in North America was held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 as Davidson Gelbvieh & Lonesome Dove Ranch hosted their 24th Annual Bull Sale. The sale was held at their new sale barn at the Bull Yards, southwest of Ponteix, SK. A great day and a great crowd made for a fun event. Bulls sold into four states and five provinces with many bulls selling within one hour from home. The high selling bull sold to repeat buyers Cedar Top Ranch of Nebraska for $11,250. They purchased the 2013 NWSS futurity entry DVE Davidson Jackpot 74Z, a son of Navaho. A Dandy sired son, DVE Davidson Moola 78Z, sold to Flecks in North Dakota for $10,750. M Heart D Gelbvieh of Montana, also repeat buyers, selected DVE Davidson Lucky 7Z for $8,200. Brittian Farms of Alberta bid $6,600 to own a DRT Mambo son, Davidson Bachelor 144Z. Ted and Brian Reed of Saskatchewan purchased four bulls including DVE Davidson Handyandy 95Z, another son of Dandy for $6,600. Semex purchased a Dandy son, out of a first calf heifer, DVE Davidson Pld Dan 14Z for $6,500. Joe & Tracey Kuffner of Saskatchewan also selected four bulls for their commercial cattle program. Volume buyers for the day were long-time repeat customers Hillcrest Colony of Saskatchewan, who selected six new herd sires for their commercial operation. Plans are underway as the Davidsons anticipate celebrating their 25th anniversary bull sale to be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at their Bull Yards. 76 Gelbvieh and Balancer® Bulls $4,317 Gustin’s Diamond D Gelbvieh of Mandan, N.D., celebrated their 30 years of breeding Gelbvieh seedstock with an outstanding production sale. The sale was held at the ranch on a snowy day in late February. An excellent crowd was on hand to take home the stout, performance bred, Gelbvieh and Balancer® bulls offered by Gustins. The top selling bull was DDGR 172Z. He is an April 3, 2013 homozygous black, homozygous polled, purebred son of JKGF W95. After active bidding, Prairie Hills Gelbvieh, Gladstone, N.D., purchased the bull for $13,500. Selling for $10,000 was DDGR 73Z. This March 18, 2012 red, polled, purebred bull was sired by JDPD Astro 407S. The bull finds a new home with Eslinger Brothers, Carson, N.D. The next top selling bull was DDGR 127Z. He is a March 24, 2012 red, polled, purebred son of SINK Full Throttle 27T. Kris Swenson, Belfield, N.D., was the winning bidder at $8,500. Kris Swenson came back to buy DDGR 53Z at $7,250. This March 13, 2012 red, polled, purebred bull was sired by JRI Fully Loaded 282M1. Four bulls sold for $7,000 including CMR 38Z, a March 5, 2012 homozygous black, homozygous polled, purebred, sired by OZZ EXT Govenor 3N. D Bar D Gelbvieh, Hazelton, N.D., and Rosehill Gelbvieh, Munich, N.D., purchased the bull. DDGR 95Z is a March 21, 2012 black, polled, purebred bull sired by VRT Lazy TV Powerhouse X554. He sold to to Leif Jellesed, Charlson, N.D., for $7,000. DDGR 188Z is an April 7, 2012 red, polled, purebred bull sired by DVE Davidson Mr Dakota 151X. Eslinger Brothers, Carson, N.D., struck again buying the bull for $7,000. DDGR 326Z, a March 29, 2012 red, polled, purebred bull sired by DDGR Home Run 35W, sold to John and Judi Trygg, Baldwin, N.D., at $7000. The top selling heifer was DDGR 16Y. She is a black, polled, Balancer heifer sired by SAV Final Answer 0035 and sold to Jacob Weinberger, Mandan, N.D., at $3,250. Wes Neubauer, Wolf Point, Mont., purchased DDGR 25Y for $3,100. Another Balancer heifer, she is a black, polled daughter of B C Matrix 4132. 30 Bulls $3,410 A great crowd was on hand to witness the return of the annual Prairie Hills Gelbvieh production sale. The Sickler family has built their program on outcross Gelbvieh genetics with performance and style. The sale was held via video auction in the newly built Prairie Hills Gelbvieh sale facility. Topping the sale was Lot 15, PHG Roughneck Z23, a homozygous black, double polled, February 25, 2012 son of DVE Davidson Payday 59W and a PHG Fighting Irish dam. This purebred Gelbvieh bull posted an 86-pound birth weight, with an impressive 801-pound weaning weight. After active bidding, Mark Hoff of Richardton, N.D., purchased this moderately made, performance-minded bull for $6,250. The second high selling bull was Lot 12, PHG Cash Machine Z06. He is a February 15, 2012, double black, homozygous polled, purebred Gelbvieh bull also sired by DVE Davidson Payday 59W and out of a JBOB Carolina Fortune dam. Dale Anderson of Reserve, Mont., was the winning bidder at $5,500. Prairie Hills Gelbvieh also offered a select group of open replacement heifers. Lot 36, PHG Mighty Girl Z18, was the top selling heifer at $2,750 to Warner Beef Genetics, Beaver City, Neb. This February 23, 2012, red, double polled heifer was sired by PHG Womanizer W24. Cattle sold into five states. Plans are underway for this summer’s customer appreciation open house to be held August 3, 2013 at Prairie Hills Gelbvieh. 7 Bulls $4,843 The Gelbvieh Breeders of Iowa celebrated their 40th annual Gelbvieh Gold Sale at the 2013 Iowa Beef Expo. The sale was held on Tuesday, February 12 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa. Twenty breeders brought an excellent offering of Gelbvieh and Balancer®bulls and females for the buyers to choose from. At the end of the day, cattle sold into nine states. The high selling bull at $13,000 was Lot 2 SKYM Foreman 2002Z. Consigned by Blackhawk Cattle Co., Oregon, Ill., he is a January 2, 2012 38% red Balancer bull sired by CTR Sandman 6523S and out of a H S A F Bando 1961 cow. He tipped the scales at a year of age at 1,319 pounds, backing up a 113 yearling weight EPD. Flying H Genetics and Bar Arrow Cattle Co., Arapahoe, Neb., teamed up to purchase possession and 50 percent semen interest. The top selling female was Lot 32, CPGG Ms Prairie Zazzy, consigned by Prairie Grove Gelbvieh, Danville, Iowa. This 50 percent Balancer open heifer was born February 22, 2012 and sired by Connealy In Focus 4925. Melissa Attay of Katie, Texas was the winning bidder at $4,900. 32 Yearling Bulls $3,993 The LeDoux Ranch had a bright sunny day and a full crowd for a great bull sale. The sale was held the second Saturday in February at the ranch in Agenda, Kan. The high selling bull was LeDoux Ranch’s 2013 People’s Choice Balancer® Bull Futurity entry, AHL Redemption 237Z. He is a February 5, 2012 homozygous black and homozygous polled, yearling Balancer bull. Eagle Pass Ranch of Highmore, S.D., was the top bidder for possession of the bull. The following breeders bought semen packages on this outstanding herd sire: Bar Arrow Cattle Company, Phillipsburg, Kan.; DTK Cattle Company, Janesville, Iowa; Pat and Lacy McCabe and partners, Farley, Iowa; Schawang Cattle Company, David City, Neb., and C-Cross Cattle Company, Asheboro, N.C.; bringing the total sale price to $23,500 on the Lot 1 bull. Lot 5, AHL Tenderloin 175Y, was the second high selling bull going to Cedar Top Ranch out of Stapleton, Neb., and Boehler Gelbvieh of Orleans, Neb., for $5,600. He is a 50 percent Balancer bull sired by EGL Tenderloin N407. Topping the female lineup was Lot 37, AHL Gorgeous 148Y, a purebred heifer with a great HXC Jackhammer heifer calf at her side. Murray Farms, Kingfisher, Okla., picked her up for $3,700. Lot 40 and Lot 30 tied for the second high selling females of the day going for $3,000 each. Lot 40, AHL JJ 206Z, is a 50 percent BEA Passion daughter, purchased by Murray Farms. Lot 36, AHL Erica 164Y, is an Angus heifer with a SRR True Grit calf at side. This great pair went to Verner Farms LLC, Rutledge, Ga. Volume bull buyers were Brian Dorman, Shoemaker Farms, and Jake Schneider. 16 Purebred Bulls $4,416 Taubenheim Gelbvieh, Amherst, Neb., held their 23rd annual production sale February 4, 2013 at the ranch. The Taubenheims welcomed a full house crowd and very friendly weather. Buyers appreciated the heavy muscled, functional cattle offered by the Taubenheims, and the NWSS pen bull champions had many friends on sale day. TAU Fine Tuned 30Z, the 2013 People’s Choice Balancer® Futurity entry and NWSS pen bull, went home with Tegtmeier Gelbvieh of Davenport, Neb. He is a January 31, 2012 homozygous black son of TAU Tuned In 55T. After active bidding, he sold for $13,250. TAU Resolution 65Z ET found a new home with Dave Burger and James Mathis of South Dakota at $10,000. 65Z was Taubenheims Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity entry. Born February 6, 2012, he is a homozygous black, purebred bull out of TAU 920J and RTRT Solution. Todd Ibach, Sumner, Neb., was the top bidder on TAU Mr Total 170Z. A February 22, 2012 son of DMRS TC Total 048X, he was part of the NWSS pen bulls and sold for $8,000. TAU 43T 26Z is a January 30, 2012 homozygous black son of TAU Mr Grid Topper 43T. Another NWSS pen bull, he found a new home with Ben Johnson, Mason City, Neb., at $7,500. Top selling bred female was TAU Ms. Final Answer 129Y, selling to Matt Raile, St. Francis, Kan., at $2,800. Matt also took home TAU Ms. In Focus 1000Y for $2,500. TAU 2039Z, a Western Hauler daughter, and 2053Z, a TAU Grid Topper 43T daughter were purchased by Calvin Dannehl, Bertrand, Neb., for $1,300 each. Volume buyers were David and Roberta Bailey of S.D.
