The following series of pages will take you through the process of creating, modifying and deleting groups using Group Query and Group Management. All of the groups you create are referred to as User Defined Groups because you, the user, defined them. HerdTrack has some built in groups, such as All Active Animals, but you can not change how these groups are defined. You can review animals and enter their information by opening either a built in group or a User Defined Group. But only User Defined Groups may be used to run Reports or create Export Files. The two methods of creating groups are Group Query and Group Management. Group Query is most useful for managing large numbers of animals when the animals in the group you need have something in common, such as year of birth or gender. Group Management is useful when working with smaller numbers of animals, or when the group you need to create doesn't have anything in common. An example might be creating a group of three animals you have sold. You need to put them in a group in order to send the AGA transfer information. One of them is a bull, one is a new calf and one is the dam of the calf. |
