The American Gelbvieh Association headquarters building was dedicated on January 16, 1992. The building was purchased under the guidance of then AGA President Earl Buss and a dedicated committee. The building was purchased through the generous donations of AGA members. Those members are honored with special plaques throughout the building. This building currently houses the American Gelbvieh Association, as well as two other businesses that rent space from the AGA.

As the beef industry becomes more competitive, it is essential that producers with like goals work together. The American Gelbvieh Association is dedicated to its mission of "Recording, promoting and improving Gelbvieh cattle."  Your consideration of membership in the American Gelbvieh Association is greatly appreciated.

AGA Brand Board
The AGA Brand Board honors those members who contributed to the building fund. Name plates honoring those who donated $100 or more are located on the board. Those who contributed $1,000 or more earned the right to place their brand on this board. The Brand Board catches the eye of every visitor to the AGA Headquarters.

The Value of AGA Membership
"There are objects of great value to mankind that cannot be obtained by unconnected individuals, that must be obtained, if at all, by association."
 -
Daniel Webster

What is an Association?
By definition, an association is a group of people who voluntarily come together to solve common problems, meet common needs, and accomplish common goals.

The American Gelbvieh Association is exactly that, a group of people who share the common interest of recording, promoting and improving Gelbvieh influenced cattle. The AGA consists of nearly  2,000 members dedicated to the prosperity of Gelbvieh and their customers. The association’s data base contains over 650,000 animals including approximately 70,000 currently active Gelbvieh cows.

The American Gelbvieh Association is governed by a 15-member board of directors. The AGA also has a very active committee structure in the areas of Finance, Rules and By-Laws, Productivity, Commercial Marketing, National Sale, National Show, Promotion, Magazine, Foundation, Juniors, Convention and International Relations. These committees provide valuable input in the development of AGA’s Annual Action Plan.

Benefits of AGA Membership
The seedstock segment of the beef industry is responsible for providing genetics that are the basis for production efficiency and end-product satisfaction.

Registered animals have more value. Seedstock animals with documented pedigree and performance information are especially valuable in today’s information age. The beef industry is putting increasing emphasis on known genetic information as a way to enhance animal performance and end-product consistency.

Members may register and transfer animals at half of the non-member rate. Please contact the AGA office for current annual fees and costs to register cattle.

An industry leading performance program. The American Gelbvieh Association’s performance program, including its registration certificate, provides in-depth performance and genetic information to enhance selection and management decisions. Included in the genetic information are EPDs for 15 economically important traits. The AGA also provides a comprehensive Sire Summary which is also available in a searchable format on the Web, a 24-hour EPD service, and a complete carcass evaluation program, including carcass EPDs.

National/regional promotion programs. The American Gelbvieh Association has an extensive national advertising program to help create a positive image for the Gelbvieh breed. This program expands awareness of Gelbvieh cattle, which helps stimulate a local market. The AGA also supports a strong regional advertising program, by making funds available to state Gelbvieh associations. Regional advertising is coordinated with the national effort in order to send a consistent message throughout the beef industry.

Gelbvieh World Magazine Gelbvieh World is AGA’s primary voice to its members and the entire beef industry. As the official publication of the AGA, its mission is to inform and educate AGA members and promote Gelbvieh cattle. Published eleven times each year, Gelbvieh World  comes with your membership.

Research. The AGA is involved in numerous, ongoing research projects, related to breed improvement. These projects are generally associated with genetic evaluation, production efficiency and beef quality.

Member Web Sites - the AGA provides a link to member web sites through the Member Locator, a searchable database of AGA member.

Commercial Marketing Program (CMP)Over the years, Gelbvieh breeders have gained a reputation for being very commercially oriented. That’s why the AGA was the first breed association in the United States to dedicate a full-time employee to serving commercial producers. Some of the services include: a Gelbvieh feeder cattle listing service, Gelbvieh Alliance, special Gelbvieh video sales, special auction barn feeder calf sales, replacement heifer marketing service and retained ownership programs. As a Gelbvieh breeder, your commercial customers can be assured that their investment in Gelbvieh genetics is backed by one of the most aggressive commercial marketing programs in the entire beef industry.
